BIO
A native of the Boston area, tenor saxophonist Casey Berman continues to rise in the ranks of the New York scene. Raised by a guitarist and an interior designer, Casey has always been immersed in the arts. His formal music training began at the age of six, when he attended theory and solfege lessons at the Longy School of Music. In high school Casey went to the prestigious Rivers School Conservatory program, which afforded him opportunities to take classes and master-classes with professors from Berklee School of Music and the preparatory program at New England Conservatory.
Casey currently resides in New York and studies in the jazz program at NYU. He has played in clubs such as the Blue Note, the Jazz Gallery, the Regattabar and Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola. He has worked closely with many of NYU’s distinguished faculty members, including Dave Pietro, Ralph Alessi, Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner and Mark Turner. Casey leads his own trio with his brother Elliot Berman on bass. He’s often writing music for Swim Team, a band that he co-leads with Elliot and peers Mike Sink and Tim Merle.
